Professional History Commander Rune Bratland, who is from the Royal Norwegian Navy, is the Civil Military Cooperation Officer in European Naval Forces’ Operational (EUNAVFOR) Headquarters. He is in charge of Operation Atalanta’s relations to merchant industry. CDR Bratland joined the EUNAVFOR in August 2009. He launched the Suez Canal Initiative where southbound ships in Suez are provided briefings from the pilots. CDR Bratland has been commanding Mine Counter Measure Vessels for six years. His last post before joining EUNAVFOR was as Maritime Warfare Officer in the Spanish Maritime Forces Headquarters from 2007 to 2009.
